Located in Spearfish, South Dakota, Aspen Acres is a premier Black Hills wedding venue designed for refined, unforgettable celebrations.
Inspired by the graceful strength of the aspen groves that surround us, Aspen Acres was thoughtfully created as a place where two lives join as one. Our flagship venue, The Barn at Aspen Acres—often known as the Black Hills Barn—was built in 2019 and has since hosted countless elegant, heartfelt celebrations. The Barn’s classic exterior gives way to a bright, design-forward interior featuring crisp white walls, statement chandeliers, and beautifully crafted barnwood tables—an artful blend of architectural charm and refined modern elegance.
In 2023, we expanded our estate to include The A-Frames and The Social Hall, offering a seamless blend of elevated and curated design.

We offer unique accommodations, services + friendly staff. We seek to create a serene, dream-like atmosphere for you to escape reality + celebrate your fairy tale love. We off both indoor & outdoor ceremony set-ups + have space for up to 400 guests on your wedding day.

Neighboring The Barn, our newly constructed A-Frame Bungalows are are here to satisfy your lodging needs! The modern, inviting design of our 3 bungalows are sure to make you feel at home for the entirety of your stay. Sleeping up to 8 guests, each bungalow has 3 bedrooms, a pull-out couch, + 2 bathrooms with cozy, hotel-style lodging, not to mention the stunning view of the Black Hills from floor to ceiling windows.
Our fourth a-frame is The Social Hall. At 1,500 sq. ft., it is the perfect event venue for hosting small, intimate events. We offer all-day and by-the-hour rentals for small weddings, business meetings, grad parties, baby showers, + so much more. With seating options for formal dinners, conference-style events, + cocktail socials, The Social Hall is perfect for just about any kind of gathering.

Meet The Berens
I am Tia Berens: a Black Hills State University alumni, dedicated dreamer, mom, and service-driven entrepreneur. My husband, Dan Berens, is an Iowa native and a primary care physician in Spearfish. Since our dream day in 2019, we have welcomed 2 beautiful blessings to our family, Bridger (born November 2020) and Bryn (born September 2022), who never fail to bring an abundance of love, light, and laughter to our lives. Together, our greatest passions are helping others, giving back, + exploring the great outdoors by mountain biking, skiing, or hiking amongst the aspens!

It all began in February 2018, when Dan finally popped the BIG question during a trip to New Zealand! Once we became engaged, the pursuit of the perfect wedding venue quickly began. Unfortunately, we soon found that our endearing little town in the Black Hills was quite limited in venues that could accommodate the blessing of our large families, as well as our personal styles. As the enthusiastic business-minded daughter of two entrepreneurs who always had permission to take the chance, fail, learn, and succeed, I began to dream of owning a wedding venue. With the loving support and guidance of my fiancé, family, friends, and the Small Business Association (SBA), The Barn was envisioned, and Aspen Acres was born!

Dan and I became the first to celebrate our very own fairy tale day at The Barn in August 2019! Now, we truly couldn’t be more excited to continue embracing all aspects of the journey to forever alongside our clients and friends.
